helping violent offenders and pedaphiles to transform their lives

ii have been very privileged to teach/guide and help federal prisoners who are violent offenders or pedaphiles transform their self identities and dedicate themselves to reforming the lives of other inmates and accepting a Calling for themselves even when they will remain incarcerated for many years.  it is exciting work and i have been privileged to be successful with a number of very disturbed men.

Honoring those who died in the New Hampshire state institution

In New Hampshire, we had an institution, Laconia State School, which we closed in 1980--the first state to close its institution for developmentally disabled citizens. To date, there is an unmarked cemetery and mass grave site. I have contacted the charter school my adopted son attends, Cocheco Arts and Technology Academy, and we have been awarded a small grant by the New Hampshire Developmental Disabilities Council for a community education event about the Laconia State School, to teach students at the charter school about issues and history of disabilities, and to have the students prepare a public ceremony that culminates their work during spring 2012.  During this academic year, the students will hold an public informational session on the history of the institution, with former residents, a mother of a resident and the former attorney who closed the institution on a panel.  they will then design a sign and murals for permanent placement at the cemetery site, write poetry and music for the installation ceremony, blog and video their learning process and work.  all will culminate in the public ceremony in spring 2012, hopefully with president obama speaking.
